Ceiling Types

Before installing your House Monkeys indoor climbing frame you must make sure that your ceiling provides a suitable surface. This ensures that your climbing frame is stable and safe and reduces the chance you will damage your ceiling.

House Monkeys indoor climbing frames cannot be installed on ceilings that are:

  • slanted or very uneven
  • constructed from separate panels
  • suspended on wire

If you have a solid ceiling (e.g. concrete) then you can install your climbing frame directly against the ceiling. Otherwise, you will need to use a board to distribute the pressure of the climbing frame more evenly across the ceiling as described in the following sections.

Concealed reed, insulating board, or plasterboard ceilings

Use a board to distribute the pressure of the frame evenly across the ceiling.

Recommended board:
130cm x 70cm x 3cm

Joist ceilings

Use a board to distribute the pressure of the frame evenly between two joists.

Recommended board:
130cm x 70cm x 3cm

Use a board to distribute the pressure of the frame evenly around a single joist.

Recommended board:
130cm x 70cm x 3cm
